Lory Low Iron Bird Food Powder Gourmet Blend by Blessings - 25 lb
NO SOY FLOUR (Serve Dry)
CONVERTING YOUR LORY TO NEW FOOD
Taste the food you were using. If it tastes like candy add sugar to the new food - half sugar half new food then taper off on the sugar. You can also use half previous brand and half new brand and taper off.
Lory Powder "Gourmet Blend" is formulated to be served in a bowl dry, with lots of water readily available-the lories are dippers. Gourmet Blend has less sugar with blueberry & healthy fruit chunks chunks through out.
Our powder and nectar have been used successfully for 7 years now. These are not new products, just improved products.
LORY POWDER- "Gourmet Blend" We created a nutritional powder with bee pollen, dried flowers, fruits, and 16 other ingredients. Feed dry with water bowl close. They are dippers!
LORY NECTAR POWDER-" Gourmet Blend" We have created a nutritional powder with bee pollen, dried flowers fruits, and 22 other ingredients-just add water! 3 to 4 level tablespoons per 8oz. cup of water. Breeders use 3 cups of nectar powder per 1 gallon of water, blend in a banana & apple to make it go further. We added an ingredient so the liquid will not separate after sitting.
INGREDIENTS: Note- We discontinued ALL soy flour in our products. Research & our testing has proven it to be hard for the lories, and mammals to digest, and of no nutritional value. Soy Protein Isolate is a better choice of protein, but more costly - so we are using soy protein isolate instead.

About Us No soybean flour is used as our protein source because it is proven to be very difficult to digest in mammals and all birds. The current Wild Animal Park & San Diego Zoo nutritionist has been advising us on product ingredients. He does not use any products with soybean flour on any of the park's animals. This facility has some of the rarest and almost extinct animals in the world. Park foods are also low in sugar content, so I believe we are on the right track. Australia & Europe always seem to be further ahead on breeding and color mutations than the United States. Maybe this is because they started years before us due to availability of the rarer mutations. Veterinarians in AU and UK like less sugar in the lory diets, and more fresh foods served along with the powder & nectars. Lories and human kids LOVE sugar and candy even though it is not a better food choice!
Guidelines for fresh fruits, vegetables, nectars & powders are - low iron, low vitamin A and C. Too high on these nutrients cause illness in the lories, and a shorter life span. We do not see enough nutritional value in sugars to add more to our products. I would like to have all my pets and myself live long lives and want to use products that enhance. We will never become a really large company because we want to be able to keep our product quality. Breeders that have been using our products for a year now are starting to enjoy more production in their lory flocks like Chris Touchton has enjoyed for the last 7 years now. The lory colors are vibrant like they should be, and they are silly, playful, high energy characters. Good nutrition promotes these qualities.
